South Dakota passes anti-abortion law!

Alleluia! A great first step in the right direction!
South Dakota became the first U.S. state to pass a law banning abortion in virtually all cases, with the intention of forcing the Supreme Court to reconsider its 1973 decision legalizing the procedure.

The law, which would punish doctors who perform the operation with a five-year prison term and a $5,000 fine, awaits the signature of Republican Gov. Michael Rounds and people on both sides of the issue say he is unlikely to veto it.

Now, what about the rape victims? or the women that find out that their is something wrong with the child, that there is no other choice, or even what if there is something wrong with the mother, that if she carries the child she will lose her on life? Pro Choice does not mean anti-life. But of course most of the anti-abortion people are men, who will never become pregnant...

It is a shame that horrendous crimes such as rape occur. That being said, I still do not feel that one committed crime calls for another. Also, recent studies have shown that there have been numerous cases of sexual assault and rape within the abortion clinics that usually go unaccounted for since the women are ashamed of the abortion in the first place.
As for health reasons, if there are complications during the carrying period, the body will usually abort the pregnancy on its own. In 98% of abortions, it is done merely for convenience and not for medical reasons. Also, women very rarely run the risk of dying during the carrying period. Complications could happen during the actual childbirth, in which case the mother should specify to the doctors whether she feels the priority is to save her life or the life of her child. Keep in mind, though, that having an abortion will run the same, if not higher, risks because many forms kill the fetus, then induce labor to remove his/her remains.
As to your comment about anti-abortion people being men, to me it has nothing to do with which sex you are, murder is wrong. Men and woman are both equally responsible for creating the child, and should both take equal responsibility in the full raising of the child. You imply that I would have a different mindset if I had the "risk" of becomming pregnant. I say to you that I am waiting until marriage for sex so it would be physically impossible for me to have an unplanned baby. In my opinion, people do not have enough self control, espescially when it comes to the opposite sex, and when something does happen, people are not ready to accept the responsibility of their actions.

Thank you for you opinions though, and I hope and pray that you may see the other side.
